Q.
Who is eligible to get a computer? A. Students,
individuals and non-profit organizations who meet the
following criteria:
1. You do not currently have
access to any computer or laptop in your home.
2. You are enrolled in some form of education.
3. You are not using this free computer to run your business.
4. You have completed an application form by using a computer
at a public library or other location.
Q. Why must each request be approved? A.
For liability and ethical reasons, we research all organizations
requesting equipment. We do our best to ensure our recipients
are legitimate and are not involved in questionable or criminal
activities.
Q. What if I receive a computer that doesn't work?
A. We test every unit, so it's rare that a
computer will not work. However, if something is not
to your satisfaction,
let us know and we will be happy to provide a replacement
computer within 60 days of receipt of the original computer.
Q. If I donate equipment, can I get a tax deductible
receipt? A. Yes. We provide
tax deductible receipts for all contributions upon request.
Q. Do you accept ANY type of computer equipment?
A. We try not to accept any computer older than 5 years or
slower than a Pentium III 500 mHz. As for printers and
scanners, we apologize but we do not accept these.
Q. What if I want to donate my broken computer? A.
Bring it in! Our volunteers work hard to test each piece
of equipment and can fix most problems.
Q. What happens to equipment that you cannot
fix or parts you cannot use? A. We have a cooperation
with organizations called Astro Too and Great Lake
Recycler that accept anything we cannot use.
Q. Do you accept monetary donations? A.
Yes. We accept checks mailed directly to the address on
our Contact Us page, or
you can make a tax-deductible online donation through
Paypal on our Make
a Donation page.
Q. Is it safe to make online donations? A.
Certainly. Paypal is a reputable company that works hard
to keep all transactions secure.
Q. Do you sell my contact information to other non-profit
organizations? A. Absolutely not. In order to maintain
a favorable relationship with the community we do not give
or sell donor information
to anyone. You can donate with confidence to Computers
For Education,
Inc!
Q. If you are a non-profit organization, how are monetary
donations spent? A. We use donations to purchase
office supplies (letterhead, labels, stamps, paper, pens,
pencils, business cards) to
keep
our lab running. We also need to buy software licenses
in order to test the computers. Sometimes we may need to
purchase
replacement
parts if we don't have them in stock.
